GS5 Controls
Up GS5 Controls Watcher Pocket Watcher

General Description

The WCM-GS Control System is our flagship product. This panel is capable of controlling up to four modular pump units, and is also capable of monitoring two pH sensors. Years of research and development have produced a product that is sophisticated, yet very easy to use. The system is menu driven, and displays all system information in plain language on the four line by twenty column LCD display. These units have been used in harsh environments, and have proven to be very reliable. Additionally, since W-CM-GS controllers are driven by WERECON’s proprietary control software, they are expandable and can be updated to meet your future needs.

The heart of the system is our Green Scorpion software.  Now in its fifth major revision, this software is very stable and well refined.  It has evolved based on customer requests and reflects a feature set that encompasses the best of what our customers want.

  • Capable of remote data communications using the WERECON WatcherSoftware Package

  • Sealed NEMA 4 fiberglass enclosure suitable for outdoor mounting.

  • Incorporates WERECON Proprietary Adaptive Auto Adjust™ and Rate-Assist™ technologies.

Ease of Use

Just six keys allow you to navigate through the entire GS5 control system.  Your screens are arranged like channels on a TV set.  The right and left arrows change channels.  When you see a channel you like, and want to change something about it, just hit 'SET' to access an easy-to-read menu of possibilities.

Adaptive Auto Adjust™

Adaptive Auto Adjust technology was developed by WERECON as a highly optimized way to control pH.  Prior to this system, pH control fell into two catagories:

  1. Proportional Injection
Using the flowmeter to drive the acid pump creates quick response to demand changes, and can produce a stable pH under stable water conditions, but needs to be retuned to keep up with changes in incoming water pH.  This technique does not work well in situations where the influent water changes frequently.

  2. pH driven injection
This technique uses a pH sensor like a thermostat to find the correct injection rate to produce a desired pH.  This method does not work that well, because every time the pump station flow rate changes, it blindsides the system, and it has to find a new rate.  It also relies heavily on a pH sensor (a very fallible piece of equipment) as its sole control mechanism.  If the sensor goes bad, or gets out of calibration, your pH can be lowered to detrimental levels, or you may not inject at all

The Adaptive Auto Adjust™ system uses proportional injection, that is modified by a dual-redundant pH sensing system, coupled to an artificial intelligence based algorithm to maintain injection at optimum levels under all conditions.

Rate Assist System™

Over time and experience with customers, we found out that many people are not comfortable with the math involved in determining proportional rates specified in parts-per-million.  In response to this, we simply programmed the GS5 to do the math for them.  Thus the Rate Assist™ system was born.  This system allows the user to specify rates by answering a series of questions.  Rates can be specified in pounds per 1000sqft per week,  gallons per acre per month, liquid ounces per 1000sqft per day, or almost any other units you may want to use.

A Tip...

When deciding to purchase anything, knowledge always tips the scales in the buyers favor.  When researching a new water treatment system, be sure to ask the salesman if their system has any of these features.  Some of the new systems other companies are offering are long on glitzy features like color touch screens, but are short on actual functionality.   Be sure to ask how that touch screen will hold up after a couple of months of exposure to rain, dirt, liquid fertilizers, etc.
